Walking tour Rubens & Antwerp
Follow in Rubens’ footsteps and experience his world in Antwerp
Step into the life of Peter Paul Rubens, perhaps the greatest painter Antwerp has ever known. Rubens wasn’t just an extraordinary artist—he was a global celebrity, a brilliant entrepreneur, a diplomat, a spy, a charmer, and above all, a proud Antwerp local. Our guide will take you to the places where Rubens lived, worked, and left his mark on the city.
We start at the Rubens House, where he painted, taught, and entertained guests. From there, we’ll walk to St. James’ Church, the impressive site of Rubens’ tomb. Along the way, we’ll pass the Snijders & Rockox House, two grand buildings tied to his friends and social circle. We’ll also visit St. Charles Borromeo Church, a baroque gem that radiates Rubens’ influence.
The tour concludes at the majestic Cathedral of Our Lady. Here, you’ll have the option to go inside and admire four of Rubens’ masterpieces. Prefer not to? That’s fine, but you’ll miss the chance to see some of his greatest works.
